It Was No Longer About Comparison

It Was No Longer About Comparison

It’s not pretty to admit but maybe you’ve been there, too.
I have a feeling I’m not the only one.
I used to think…
(And as embarrassing as it is to say…still sometimes my brain defaults back to this)
That the only way to be awesome was to be the awesome-est in the room.
I wanted the teacher to notice me and think no one was as cool as I was.
I’ve tried not to but…
There have been times when I wanted to point out others downfalls so I could feel superior.
I’ve tried not to but…
Sometimes I did this in my business, hoping people would want to work with me instead of someone else.
When I read Cal Newport’s book “So Good They Can’t Ignore You” and Steve Martin’s “Last One Standing” I decided…
It was no longer about comparison.
It was about being my best self
Purely for the sake of my future self who was waiting for me to show up.
Each day, instead of trying to be better than someone else
I started showing up as a version of my awesome future self in tiny ways
What happened?
I started seeing my own awesomeness.
I stopped needing someone else to tell me I was awesome.
I began believing it about myself
From inside me
Not outside me
I began showing up more
Saying what I think and believe more without explanation or apology
My business began growing because I was showing up as my best, most awesome self for me
Which means my clients get the benefits
My family gets the benefits
I get the benefits.
Magic and miracles start happening.
This is what happens when you and I stop comparing
When we stop trying to be better than someone
When we stop thinking we are worse than another person
We get to be so good we can no longer ignore our awesomeness
Or the awesomeness of others.
We get to live more alive
And more free.
