I sat down to write today.
I had no idea what I was going to write about.
I had stopped sitting down to write everyday.
Because it seemed like all the ideas stopped.
I forgot that I had to sit down first.
I had started to get ideas while I was walking around and so I started to think I could walk around and get ideas.
So I stopped sitting down to write.
But really those ideas came because my brain was in a place of anticipating I would be sitting down to do the work
I stopped sitting down and my brain stopped anticipating doing the work
For the last week or so I’ve been telling myself I have writers’ block.
I have nothing to say.
I decided to sit down today
This is what I’m learning…
Sit down to the work everyday
Even when you think you have writers’ block
Even when you think you have nothing to say
Because…
When you stop sitting down to do the work
Your brain stops doing the work.
When you sit down to do the work
Your brain starts anticipating the work
It starts to do the work before you sit down
Your brain gets excited about creating
Unless you don’t sit down
Then your brain stops getting excited
Your brain doesn’t know what comes next
So it gets confused
Don’t confuse your brain
Sit down and do the work
Your brain will get excited again
You brain will start working before you sit down
Your brain will start creating in anticipation of doing the work
The work will spill out of your fingertips
If you do the work of getting to work.
If you’re struggling to tap into your genius, awesomeness, inspiration, the spirit..
I’ve got you covered. I know exactly how to help you.

PS: this is not what I actually look like when I sit down to write in the morning. This is a photo shoot. The truth is I roll out of bed, meditate for a few minutes, put on my workout clothes, and then sit at my computer. It’s not glamorous or lovely. It’s raw and it’s messy when I show up at my keyboard.
